Activities

On-site Activities

Some of the activities our visitors enjoy include:
  • Gardens and Walks. There are numerous walks and garden areas on the property, including seated areas for prayer and reflection.
  • Feeding & milking. We have cattle, sheep and chickens as well as two pet cats. From time to time we have a friendly Jersey cow being milked and young children (and those of us who are young at heart) love to watch this – please enquire if this is available at the time you visit. Visitors are welcome to feed the chooks and collect the eggs. Let us know the night before if you would like to do this the next morning. Our chickens free-range in the afternoon, and from spring through to summer, you may also see one of the mother hens with cute fluffy chicks running along behind her. To meet Health & Safety regulations, we’ll supervise your group or individuals as you visit with the animals.
  • Farm Tours. Subject to staff availability, and if the weather is fine and the ground isn’t soggy from rain, we can take adults and children on a ride on a trailer attached to our tractor (foam pads and seating provided) around various parts of the property.
  • Archery. By arrangement, for groups, we can set up archery for 1 – 2 hours depending on the number of people taking part – please enquire for costs if interested. Limited to ages 5yrs old+. In line with Health & Safety rules we will need adults assisting while we actively supervise this activity.
  • Swimming Pool. The private swimming pool in the main homestead area can be  made  available for a group’s use for agreed periods – you must provide active and continuous supervision by an adult aged 20yrs+. The pool is not suitable for toddlers as it is 1.5m deep at its shallow end and over 2m at its deepest.
  • Children’s Play Equipment. Large trampoline with safety net, children’s slide/swing set and teens/adults swing set.
  • Sports Equipment. Table tennis, badminton, a small air hockey table are available at all times. An extra-large Connect-4 game is available at an extra cost.
  • Fire-pit. We have a seated fire-pit area available to groups. As we are in a high fire risk area, use of this is dependent on the fire risk designation by Fire & Emergency NZ.
  • BBQ. Available for use year-round. Donation for gas appreciated.
  • Board Games etc. If hiring the meeting/dining/kitchen rooms, there are books, board games, and children’s toys available.
